WHO are Temple Judea’s children, youth & teens? 

  • Our Religious School & Confirmation Academy welcome approximately 100 students each year from Pre-K through Confirmation at the end of 10th grade. 

  • Our students come from towns and neighborhoods throughout the area and they attend a variety of public and private schools. In many cases, befriending and learning with other Jewish children is itself a special opportunity.

  • Our students come to Temple Judea from diverse families and with different levels of Jewish knowledge and experience. We happily customize our program to accommodate students with special needs and particular passions.

  • Everyone is welcome and valued at Temple Judea.

HOW do Temple Judea’s children, youth & teens learn?

  • We put a premium on making Jewish learning FUN, CREATIVE, INTERESTING, MEANINGFUL and INSPIRING.
  • Our classes regularly feature music, cooking, games, stories, nature, arts & crafts, STEM, drama, sports, rituals, discussions & debates, simulations, trips, service Learning and project-based learning.

WHERE does Temple Judea’s Religious School meet?

  • We meet in our beautiful, 10 years-young synagogue at 38 Rogers Road, PO Box 109, Furlong, PA 18925.

  • Our facility features a dedicated classroom level informal gathering spaces for children and adults, indoor and outdoor prayer spaces a wonderful playground for our youngest students and a large, convenient parking lot

WHO teaches Temple Judea’s children?

  • Our Religious School is directed by Lori Bergman. 

  • We have an outstanding faculty – drawn from within our congregation and from the larger community – whose love of Judaism and love of children comes through in everything they do in our school. We are particularly proud that many of them have been with Temple Judea for many years. Although many of our teachers are not educators by profession, we offer them ongoing professional development

DO we need to be members of Temple Judea to attend the Religious School?

Yes, our Religious School serves Temple Judea members. The only exception is families with one child who is enrolled in Pre-Gan / Pre-K

* In addition to the tuition,Temple Judea Membership Dues are required for families with children in Gan/Kindergarten and above 

** Pre-Gan tuition is only $100 for Small Wonders families.
*** There is also an additional B’nai Mitzvah fee that is assessed in Hey [5th Grade] and Vav [6th Grade]. Please visit the section of this website about the B’nai Mitzvah Program.

WHAT if we cannot afford to pay the full tuition?

  • Temple Judea never wants cost to be an impediment to Jewish education. Please contact Sue Leventhal, our bookkeeper and a long-time member, to discuss what financial arrangement would make it possible for your children to attend our religious school.

  • The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia provides scholarship support for Temple Judea's Religious School through the Keren Chinuch Scholarship Program.
