Rabbi Andrew Sklarz

Rabbi Andrew Sklarz, MSW, came to Temple Judea in 2023 and has infused our congregation with his vibrant and joyful energy, creative flair and leadership experience. Having served congregations in New York, Connecticut and the greater Philadelphia area, Rabbi Sklarz is a trained social worker/therapist and Jewish educator, and has spent much time working closely with those confronting profound illness including cancer, AIDS and dementia, as well as supporting those encountering emotional challenges.,

Rabbi Sklarz’ joie d’vivre, compassion and warm humor is an inherent part of who he is as a rabbi and a man. He is equally as passionate about sitting on the floor with pre-school children as he is with working with families preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah or wedding celebration, teaching Torah or running a support group for adults, or standing alongside with those of different faiths, the LGBTQ community, or marginalized populations.

A cyclist and musician, one who has dabbled on the stage, and a long-time cancer survivor and pastoral counselor, Rabbi Sklarz brings a unique set of interests and skills to Temple Judea. Rabbi Sklarz and his wife Susan are the proud parents of Daniella and husband Graham, and Alexander. Most recently, they welcomed an energetic Cavapoo, Meesh Meesh (Apricot in Hebrew) into their family.
