Community Is Manifest In Our Events
We provide a strong sense of community to our members, visitors and non-Jewish participants.
We are are a Reform Synagogue which opens our synagogue to everyone regardless of their religious and non-religious commitments.
We invite members of the LGBTQ community where they will find a welcome and warm place to be.
Openness and community are our never-ending goals. We strive to create a wealth of events that support both our religious ceremonies along with community involvement on a wide range of topics.
From our wonderful kids' schools for both religious and non-religious day care to our many senior activities we enhance our community with interesting and exciting events.
Come, warm your heart with old and new friends.
Temple Judea is an exciting, creative, enlightened community that has been in existence for about 60 years.
Founded in 1959, we were the first Reform synagogue in Bucks County, and the first synagogue in Doylestown. Initially we began with fifteen families, who wanted very much the same things we still want today: a strong community, excellent religious education that perpetuates and extolls Jewish values and pride, a living connection to Israel, meaningful prayer experiences. And, always, never to be forgotten, fun!
In 1967 the Congregation dedicated its own synagogue on Swamp Road. One of the speakers at the event was the noted author and Bucks County resident, James A. Michener. The Swamp Road facility served Temple Judea well for 40 years.
In 2011 Temple Judea’s congregation purchased an 8-acre parcel of land in Furlong, just east of Doylestown. On January 6, 2013 our congregants carried our Torah scrolls to their new home on Rodgers Road.
Temple Judea’s congregation now is over 200 families. We remain a culture of friendly, welcoming, down-to-earth folks and families. A large proportion of our families have children in our pre-school and religious school, which share a reputation for excellence. Our adult population is knowledgeable, active, and caring. We are egalitarian, and welcome interfaith families, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community, and everyone who shares the values of The People of Israel.
At Temple Judea, we continue to enlighten and innovate to meet the needs of our congregants and changes in society. Yet, we are always guided by a traditional set of values and ideals, connecting us from the wilderness of Sinai, to right here, and now, at our synagogue in Furlong.
Share our light. And our legacy!
