Temple Judea Giving Opportunities
All of the Temple's financial activities are maintained and accounted for in a series of ledger accounts. These accounts are categorized into three groups: the General Operating Fund, Designated Funds,and Courtesy Funds. The Board of Trustees maintains spending authority for all of the Funds.
You can support Temple Judea at no cost to yourself!
Sign up today for GLScrip and purchase gift cards for hundreds of
merchants at face value. Enter Temple Judea's code and Temple Judea will receive a percentage of every purchase. All proceeds
from the sale of Scrip will support the construction of our new building on Rogers Road.
General Operating Fund: The basic bank account of the Temple. The main
source of income is member dues, school tuition and other fees which are
set by the Board of Trustees. Each year, a budget, which includes
income and expense totals, is submitted to and approved by the
Board. The Board then presents the budget to the Congregation for
approval.
Courtesy Funds: Funds collected and
distributed as a courtesy to the membership and associate
organizations. Courtesy Funds include the ARZA Fund, the B'nai
Mitzvah Service and Tutoring Funds, and the Religious School Tzedakah
Fund.
Designated Funds: Funds set aside or donated for specific purposes. These funds cannot be used for any other purpose, including general operating expenses. The Designated Funds are as follows:
Adult Education Fund: To support the various adult education programs that are not included in the yearly budget.
Im Tirtzu If You Will It Campaign: A separate fundaising effort to support the design and construction of our new home on Rogers Rd in

Capital Replacement Fund: For the future replacement of major capital items (for
example, kitchen appliances) in the building. Income for this Fund
is provided for in the yearly budget.
Caring Community (Chesed) Fund: Contribute to our efforts to support, help and encourage each other in times of need.
Contingency Fund: Contains reserve funds to meet emergency
situations. This Fund was established for contingencies that
cannot be covered by general operating funds in a reasonable time.
Emergency Tzedakah Fund: A source of emergency Tzedakah funds to be administered
by the Rabbi, President and Financial Secretary.
Family Education Fund: To support the various family education programs that
are not included in the yearly budget.
New Site Fund/Capital Campaign: The New Site Fund was established by the Board of Trustees at its
July 1996 meeting to accumulate funds for the purpose of acquiring land for a new site.
Now that the land has been bought and paid, this
fund will go toward the building of our new building.
This is the place to direct your donations to be designated only
for the building of our future home on Rogers Road. Contact any board member for further information.
Nursery School Fund: For Nursery School programs, materials, and initiatives
not included in the yearly budget.
Prayer Book Fund: Contains funds to purchase additional or new prayers
books.
Rabbi's Discretionary Fund: Funds to be distributed by the Rabbi for Tzedakah and
other items not covered in the budget, at the Rabbi's discretion.
Salkin Youth Fund: Established by Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin to provide
scholarship funds for youths to attend Jewish summer camps and
programs. This fund is administered by the Rabbi.
School Equipment Fund: To purchase equipment and other items that support the
teaching activities of the religious school and other special religious
school programs or initiatives.
Social Action Fund: For educational programs and other activities which
provide a social benefit or promote a social awareness in the community. "It is not your duty to complete the work, but you are not free to desist from it (Pirke Avot)."
Speigel Music Fund: Named after the Temple's first cantorial soloist, Regina
Speigel, this fund supports various music programs.
Torah Fund:
For the repair and maintenance of the Torahs, to purchase new Torah
covers or ornaments.
Youth Fund-Junior: For activities sponsored by the Junior Youth
Group.
Youth Fund-Senior: For activities sponsored by the Senior Youth Group.
Sign up for
eScrip
and raise money for the synagogue. Many merchants including
Genuardi's will donate to the Temple and all you have to do is sign up and
do your normal shopping. Our Group Name is Temple Judea and
our Group ID is 1001620.
eScrip and GL Scrip are not the same.
eScrip is for registering your Genuardi's card and for on-line shopping.
GL Scrip allows you to purchase gift cards from the synagogue for face value
while the synagogue gets a percentage of the proceeds.
